SPECIAL AWARD WINNER - for the best performance of a composition by Ida Presti

Cristina Galietto is an acclaimed Italian classical guitarist whose performances are characterized by exceptional musical sensitivity, attention to detail, and technical command.

At the International Guitar Competition "Ida Presti", she was honored with the Special Prize for the Best Performance of a Piece by Ida Presti for her outstanding interpretation of the composer's work, Segovia.

Demonstrating a refined elegance and a wide timbral and dynamic palette, she has established herself as a standout talent of her generation. Her versatility is reflected in a wide-ranging repertoire hat spans from the 16th century to contemporary works. In her virtuoso hands, the classical guitar showcases its full expressive potential, masterfully bridging diverse musical styles and eras—from the intricate nuances of baroque harpsichord sonatas and intense Spanish passion to the complex language of the 21st century.

Her discography includes the album Avant l'Aube (released at the end of 2020 by Timespan Recordings), featuring works by Joaquín Rodrigo, Domenico Scarlatti, and Alexis Rago, which highlights her delicate and intimate approach to interpretation.

An active international concert artist, Cristina has performed extensive solo recitals, chamber music, and concertos with orchestras throughout Europe and the United States. She has been invited to prestigious festivals and venues, including the Petrer and Madrid Guitar Festivals (Spain), Théâtre Traversière in Paris (France), Mottola (Italy), Harmonia Cordis (Romania), and the Uppsala Guitar Festival (Sweden). She has also performed at King’s Place (Hall One) in London, the historic Florentinersaal in Graz, and the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival (Austria). Her US tour included recitals and masterclasses in New York, Portland, Los Angeles, and Columbia.

Born in Naples in 2000, Cristina began her musical education with her father, Alberto. Her exceptional talent quickly led to numerous accolades in major international competitions. Among her most notable achievements are first prizes at the "Alexis Rago" Competition in Stuttgart, the "Andrés Segovia" in Monheim am Rhein, the Uppsala Guitar Competition, and the prestigious EuroStrings Guitar Competition 2021. In recognition of her artistic merits, she was also awarded the "Golden Guitar" (Chitarra d'oro) at the 28th International Guitar Meeting in Milan.

Cristina holds two Master’s degrees in classical guitar and is currently completing her third postgraduate degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG) under the guidance of Paolo Pegoraro and Ɓukasz Kuropaczewski. She performs on an instrument crafted by the master luthier Alessandro Marseglia.
